Ahmedabad hotel prices skyrocket to Rs 50,000 per night on Coldplay concert day

After British band Coldplay announced an upcoming concert in Ahmedabad, hotel room rates in the Gujarat city have surged, with social media users sharing screenshots of the steep prices on X.
The concert will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium on January 25, shortly after Coldplay wraps up three shows in Mumbai.
On the concert date, as well as the days surrounding it, room rates at several Ahmedabad hotels have soared to over Rs 50,000 per night.
X user Spandana noted, “No hotel in Ahmedabad for 24-25 January costs less than 50k. Pro tip for people going to Coldplay: stay in Vadodara and commute to Ahmedabad.”
Another user, Priti Jain, shared a post showing a rate of Rs 53,200 per night at a hotel in Ahmedabad.

A cursory glance through the website of online travel company MakeMyTrip reveals that most 5-star hotels are indeed charging over Rs 50,000 per night (excluding taxes) on the day of the Coldplay concert. In comparison, on December weekends, most 5-star hotel rooms are priced between Rs 6,000 and Rs 20,000 per night on average.
While most of the rooms are sold out on the Coldplay concert day, some are still available at economical rates.
Before their Ahmedabad show, Coldplay announced shows in Mumbai on January 18, 19 and 21, 2025. This will mark Coldplay’s return to India after a hiatus of nine years.
